The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
goots just misses with a punch to the body.

goots gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Roosevelt to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Roosevelt sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed goots's guard.
goots is not content to let Roosevelt control the position.
Roosevelt is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because goots is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Roosevelt thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Roosevelt throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Roosevelt stalling away here and it's allowed goots to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Roosevelt looking to sit in guard and control but goots gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
goots has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Roosevelt is proving hard to escape from.
Roosevelt is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

goots regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Roosevelt.
Roosevelt has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Roosevelt throws a strike but goots rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Roosevelt has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but goots can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

goots gets to his feet. Roosevelt looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Roosevelt misses with a body shot.
goots misses with a shot to the body
and Roosevelt counters with a nice low kick that buckles goots's knee momentarily.

Roosevelt scores a takedown into full mount!
goots is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Roosevelt throws some wild stikes that goots manages to avoid easily.
Roosevelt thowing shots but they're missing.

It looks like shoots goots has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Roosevelt with shots to the head and body - goots looks very uncomfortable down there.

The referee warns goots that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

The cut above shoots goots's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at shoots goots's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
