PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Kruschenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maxymilian Karbov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ivan Kruschenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Maxymilian Karbov!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kruschenko closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Karbov did well to prevent Kruschenko getting side control.
Karbov trying to hold on to Kruschenko's head to control him but Kruschenko postures up.
Kruschenko passes to side control.
Kruschenko tries to move to mount but Karbov blocks the move with his legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Karbov tries to bench press Kruschenko off him but Kruschenko keeps the position.
Karbov is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Karbov moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Karbov trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Kruschenko will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Karbov wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Kruschenko is now in half guard.
Kruschenko looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Karbov taking some punishment here, with Kruschenko in his half guard.
Kruschenko tries to stand and escape but Karbov is controlling the position.
Karbov has hold of Kruschenko's hands but Kruschenko slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Kruschenko prevents Karbov from improving his position.
Kruschenko content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Karbov has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kruschenko is working away from the top position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kruschenko drops an elbow to the side of Karbov's head.
Karbov is trying to get back to full guard.
Karbov tries to kick Kruschenko off but Kruschenko keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Kruschenko decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Kruschenko closes the distance and pushes Karbov back into the cage.
Karbov goes for a takedown attempt but Kruschenko pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Karbov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kruschenko moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Kruschenko closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kruschenko is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Karbov looks gassed!
Karbov has hold of Kruschenko's hands but Kruschenko slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Kruschenko is taking a breather. Karbov says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Kruschenko trying to control the action but Karbov is working from the bottom.
Kruschenko looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Kruschenko wants to lay and pray for a moment but Karbov keeps working.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kruschenko content to control rather than advance.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ivan Kruschenko.
Karbov gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Kruschenko counters with a shoot takedown. Karbov fights it but they end up in guard.
Kruschenko connects with a couple of short punches.
Karbov looking to control.

Kruschenko decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Karbov, up you get!

Kruschenko scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Karbov is looking to escape.
Kruschenko wants to pass the guard but Karbov is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ivan Kruschenko dominated that round.

Karbov looks to clinch

and Kruschenko counters with a shoot takedown. Karbov fights it but they end up in guard.
Kruschenko wants to pass the guard but Karbov is keeping the position.
Karbov is looking to sweep but instead, Kruschenko has passed into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Karbov is trying to get back to full guard.
Karbov is trying to maintain the position but Kruschenko is very close to passing his half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Karbov tries to roll over but Kruschenko keeps him under control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Still in half guard, Kruschenko seems content to control.
Kruschenko is looking to pass Karbov's guard but actually Karbov recovers to full guard.
Ivan Kruschenko overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Karbov avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kruschenko trying to control but Karbov is working from the bottom.
Kruschenko throws and elbow that misses. Karbov uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kruschenko's guard. Nice move by Karbov!
Karbov is stalling in the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Karbov has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kruschenko is proving hard to escape from.

Kruschenko is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Karbov rolls with it to try and escape but Kruschenko cranks on the arm and Karbov is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
