The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jurgen throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rico tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jurgen is in Rico's guard.
Jurgen wants to control from the top but Rico keeps moving.
Jurgen looking to sit in guard and control but Rico gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rico would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Jurgen is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Rico sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jurgen's guard.
Jurgen is staying active underneath Rico, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jurgen wants to control but Rico is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Rico is keen to just control but Jurgen is a slippery customer.

Jurgen is trying to control but can't.
Rico wants to take a breather but Jurgen is having none of it.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Rod Rico hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Jurgen misses with a two punch combination.
Rico staying out of range there.
Rico takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

It looks like Rod Rico has been cut.

Jurgen tries to clinch up.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jurgen. Rico does a little dance to reset his feet.
Jurgen punishes Rico's body with a nice straight punch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Jurgen counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Jurgen misses with a takedown attempt - Rico sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Jurgen counters with a right hand that sends Rico tumbling to the canvas! Can Jurgen finish him? He dives into Rico's guard looking to do just that!

Rico is rocked!
Jurgen gets to his feet and stands over Rico, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Rico felt that one! Jurgen unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Rico from any more punishment!
