PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Moy Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Logan Punish (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mendez's entrance music is pick the world up. A fine choice. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Logan Punish!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Punish moves in looking to clinch but Mendez pushes him off.

Mendez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Mendez is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Punish really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mendez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Punish avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Mendez stands and steps away. Punish gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Mendez scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Mendez looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Punish looks gassed!

Mendez stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Mendez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Mendez is trying to control. Punish wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Mendez is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Punish is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
