The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rodriguez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Rodriguez tries to clinch but Lashley moves out of range.
Rodriguez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Lashley shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rodriguez defends it nicely.
Rodriguez doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Lashley counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rodriguez's guard now.
Bobby Lashley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Rodriguez.
Lashley wants to stand but Rodriguez has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Lashley thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Rodriguez wants to stand and escape but Lashley is having none of it.
Lashley postures up in Rodriguez's guard and throws a big left but Rodriguez blocks it.
Lashley slips nicely into half guard.

Lashley is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rodriguez is just riding it out for now. Lashley eventually gives up the hold.
Lashley wants to take a breather but Rodriguez is having none of it.

Lashley is trying to work for a kimura but Rodriguez is defending well.
Rodriguez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lashley. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
