PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between William Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pepsi Max (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Bob might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Dragonforce- heroes of our time. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, William Bob!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Pepsi Max!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Atkins and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Max bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Bob wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Bob throws Max to one side and escapes!
Max fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bob avoids it really well and circles away.
Max tries for a takedown but Bob sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Max misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
William Bob has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pepsi Max.
Bob lands with an overhand left.
Bob stalks Max and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Max's face. Max staggers backwards, shaken.
Bob bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Max's head backwards.

Bob is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Max's half guard.
Max controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bob wants to pass to mount but Max is defending the position.
Bob wants to take a breather but Max is having none of it.
Max wants to control but Bob is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Max takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Max shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Bob trying to control the position.
Max looking to pass the guard.
Max looks gassed!

Bob working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Max doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Max manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bob wants to sweep but no luck.
Bob keeping moving, preventing Max from controlling successfully.
Max slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bob is trying to control the position from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bob is on top in guard.
Max is trying to control the position but Bob postures up.
Max is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Bob tries to free his leg and advance position but Max is retaining full guard.
Max trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Bob scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Max gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Bob counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Max takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Max fails with the takedown

and Bob counters with a nice double leg into side control. Max won't be happy with that.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bob wants to control but Max is keeping him busy.
Max striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William Bob dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Bob lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Max tries for a takedown but Bob circles away easily

and Bob counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Bob.
Bob is stalling in the full guard.
Bob postures up in Max's guard and throws a big left but Max blocks it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Max can do anything to dispel that myth.
Max wants to sweep here but Bob controlling him for the moment.
Bob controls from within his opponent's guard.
Bob has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Max is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

William Bob has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Bob shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Max napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Max tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Bob presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Bob wants to control the pace but Max is squirming around nicely.
Max can't escape the position.
Max is breathing heavily.
Bob content just to control the position here.

Bob with shots to the head and body - Max looks very uncomfortable down there.
Max is looking to get to half guard.
Max tries to hold on but Bob postures up.
Bob wants to control the pace but Max is squirming around nicely.

Bob sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Max avoids a series of strikes thrown by Bob.
Max wants to control but Bob is having none of it.
Max is squirming around, avoiding Bob's attempts to control the action.
Max tries to lock up and control but Bob gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
William Bob overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bob takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Max is squirming around, avoiding Bob's attempts to control the action.
Bob content just to control the position here.

The ref stands the fighters back up because William Bob just wasn't active enough.

Max closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Bob taking punishment in the form of punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William Bob dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Max takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

and Bob counters with a single leg into guard. Max didn't expect that.

Bob is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Max is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Bob scores with a hook to the body. Max takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Max tries for a takedown but Bob circles away easily
and Bob counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Max throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bob was covering up waiting for the punch and Max finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Max trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Max postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Max got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bob has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Max has managed to get both his arms back between Bob's legs - danger averted.

Bob looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Max passes into side control.
Max cracks Bob with a big elbow.
Max passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Bob!
Bob slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Max seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bob does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Max frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Max is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Max extends the arm and Bob is forced to tap!
