PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Casey Carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronald McDonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McDonald has chosen EARTH CRISIS: DESTROY THE MACHINES as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Casey Carwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ronald McDonald!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDonald moves in looking to clinch but Carwin pushes him off.
McDonald lands with a thumping leg kick.
McDonald misses the jab.
McDonald lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Carwin slips under a jab from McDonald.
McDonald throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
McDonald throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
McDonald is looking to clinch.
Carwin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Carwin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Carwin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
McDonald avoids a series of strikes thrown by Carwin.

Carwin throwing strikes here but McDonald is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Carwin looking to ground and pound but McDonald is blocking nicely.
Carwin wants to control the pace but McDonald is squirming around nicely.
Carwin looking to finish with strikes here!
Carwin lands a big elbow.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
McDonald is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Carwin thowing shots but they're missing.
Carwin unloads with some shots from mount but McDonald bucks and avoids them well.
Carwin sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Carwin trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Carwin looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
McDonald regains half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McDonald has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Carwin is working away from the top position though.
Carwin not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Carwin is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Carwin missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


McDonald uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Carwin.
Carwin misses with a body shot
and McDonald counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Carwin is lucky that one didn't land flush.
McDonald fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Carwin.
Carwin misses the body punch
and McDonald counters with a good low kick that Carwin was not able to check.
Ronald McDonald seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McDonald slips under a jab from Carwin.
Carwin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
McDonald looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Carwin avoids the head kick by McDonald.
Carwin throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Carwin closes the distance and clinches up with McDonald, looking for a takedown. Carwin pushes McDonald against the cage but McDonald circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
McDonald moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
McDonald motions for Carwin to come forward. McDonald throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

McDonald tries to clinch but Carwin is having none of it.
McDonald defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Carwin.

McDonald gets caught flat footed, as Carwin shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Carwin scoring with punches to the head and body.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Carwin lands a couple of elbows.
Carwin wants to control from the top but McDonald keeps moving.
Carwin throws and elbow that misses. McDonald uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Carwin's guard. Nice move by McDonald!

Carwin trying to keep a closed guard but McDonald is proving a slippery customer.
Carwin wants to sweep here but McDonald controlling him for the moment.

Carwin is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
McDonald trying to control but Carwin is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Ronald McDonald will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


McDonald misses with the combination.
Carwin shoots for a takedown but McDonald saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Carwin bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Carwin takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Carwin avoids the head kick by McDonald.
McDonald thuds a left hand into Carwin's body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carwin fails to land the takedown.
Carwin jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Carwin shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Casey Carwin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Carwin throws a series of punches but McDonald moves out of range.
McDonald throws a leg kick which misses Carwin's front leg but catches the back leg as Carwin tries to avoid it.
McDonald punishes Carwin's body with a nice straight punch.
Carwin throws a nice looking combination but McDonald bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Carwin has his takedown stuffed
and McDonald counters with a one-two to the body.
Carwin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Carwin keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from McDonald.
McDonald defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Carwin.
McDonald thumps Carwin with a low kick.
Carwin looks to score with a jab to the body but McDonald is just out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McDonald wants to clinch up but Carwin keeps it at a distance.
Carwin avoids the body shot from McDonald.
The crowd cheers as McDonald lands an impressive looking overhand right. Carwin doesn't seem phased though.
Carwin tries to bum rush McDonald with a series of wild strikes but McDonald uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
McDonald tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Carwin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Carwin blocks a head kick by McDonald.
McDonald uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Carwin.
McDonald throws a head kick that half lands.
McDonald throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Carwin is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in McDonald's half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Carwin content to control rather than advance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McDonald pushes Carwin off but Carwin dives into side control.
McDonald is trying to improve his position.
You can see the frustration on McDonald's face as Carwin controls the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
McDonald is trying to buck Carwin off.
The strikes coming from Carwin are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Carwin throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Carwin misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ronald McDonald comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think McDonald has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
