PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Quinton Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uri Boyka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ellis kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is 5 minutes alone. Boyka has chosen Queen - I Want It All (extended version) as his entrance music. Quinton Ellis has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boyka decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Boyka perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boyka passes the guard and advances to mount!
Boyka trying to control but Ellis is having none of it.

Boyka looking to control and managing it successfully.
Boyka breaks from Ellis's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Boyka sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Boyka cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

I looks like Boyka might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Despite being in the dominant position, Uri Boyka just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ellis throws a series of punches but Boyka avoids them all with ease.

Boyka is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Ellis's half guard.

Ellis is looking to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Boyka shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Ellis had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Boyka defends it easily.
Boyka not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Boyka wants to control from the top but Ellis keeps moving.

Boyka's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Boyka is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Still in half guard, Boyka seems content to control.

Uri Boyka showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Boyka is trying to control. Ellis wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Boyka drives through with a takedown into guard.
Boyka stands and throws Ellis's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Ellis stops Boyka from passing to mount.
Ellis is trying to escape the position but Boyka is controlling the position.

Ellis is trying to work for a sweep but Boyka has mounted him!
Boyka tries to control but Ellis wriggling away.
Ellis is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Boyka controlling his opponent.
Let's hope that Boyka has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Ellis keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Uri Boyka is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Uri Boyka comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Boyka has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
