Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Troy Downey!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Ivan Kurochkin and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Downey is looking to clinch but Bopastiev is avoiding it.
Bopastiev misses with a series of wild punches.
Bopastiev fails to land with a series of punches.

Bopastiev decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Bopastiev wants to stand but Downey has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Bopastiev with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Downey manages to get to full guard.
Downey wants to sweep here but Bopastiev controlling him for the moment.
Downey is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Downey is on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Downey trying to control the position from guard on top but Bopastiev is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Downey landing some decent shots from guard.

Downey gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Downey tries for a takedown but Bopastiev circles away easily

and Bopastiev counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Downey!
Downey is working to get back to half guard.
Bopastiev lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Downey working to try and regain half guard.
Downey looks gassed!
Downey is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Bopastiev tries to control but Downey wriggling away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bopastiev fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Bopastiev postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Downey looks a forlorn figure.

Downey gets back to half guard.
Downey is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Downey is not content to let Bopastiev control the position.
Downey tries to roll over but Bopastiev keeps him under control.
Bopastiev is trying to control the action in half guard but Downey is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Downey controlling the position for now.
Bopastiev is tying to control. Downey wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bopastiev is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Downey is just riding it out for now. Bopastiev eventually gives up the hold.
Bopastiev is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Bopastiev shoots in and bounces Downey off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Downey has a closed guard, preventing Bopastiev from standing up.

Bopastiev decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Downey doesn't manage to clinch there - Bopastiev circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bopastiev throws a big shot that misses.

Bopastiev looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Downey tries to strike from the bottom.
Bopastiev controls from within his opponent's guard.
Bopastiev trying to control but Downey is working from the bottom.
Bopastiev content to stall in guard here.
Bopastiev trying to control the position from guard on top but Downey is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bopastiev working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michail Bopastiev dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Bopastiev has closed the distance and engaged Downey in a clinch.

Bopastiev breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bopastiev takes a swing at Downey's ribcage but misses.

Downey decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Downey wants to pass the guard but Bopastiev is defending well.
Bopastiev tries to get to full guard but Downey has control of the leg.
Michail Bopastiev overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Downey looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Bopastiev wants to get back to his feet.

Downey is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Bopastiev is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
