Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Gus Taylor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, John Meyer!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Donald Grub and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taylor throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Taylor misses with a straight left.
Taylor tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Meyer was well out of range. Poor timing from Taylor.

Meyer has Taylor up against the cage in a clinch.
Meyer has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Taylor is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Taylor gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Meyer.

Taylor is fighting off a takedown attempt but Meyer is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Taylor to the mat. Taylor regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Taylor is trying to control the position but Meyer postures up.
Taylor is looking to stand up but Meyer isn't so interested in that idea.
Meyer wants to pass the guard but Taylor is keeping the position.

Meyer chips away with some ground and pound.
Taylor trying to control the position.
Meyer trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Taylor wants to sweep here but Meyer controlling him for the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Gus Taylor just wasn't active enough.
Nice body punch from Meyer.
Meyer tries to score a power double leg takedown but Taylor sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Meyer somewhat.
Gus Taylor has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Meyer.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Taylor digs a good body shot into Meyer's ribs.
Meyer fails with an attempt to clinch.

Taylor misses with a shot to the body

and Meyer counters with a takedown into side control.
Meyer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Taylor keeps working.
Taylor tries to escape but Meyer is in control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Meyer taking a break here but Taylor is having none of it and regains half guard.

Meyer is working for a submission of some sort.

Taylor wants to control but Meyer is keeping busy.

Meyer is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Taylor is just riding it out for now. Meyer eventually gives up the hold.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Meyer missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Taylor wants to get back to full guard.
Meyer lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Taylor pushes Meyer off and gets back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Meyer dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Taylor fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Meyer looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Meyer tries to clinch there but Taylor circles away.

Meyer drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Meyer sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Meyer tries to free his leg and advance position but Taylor is retaining full guard.
Taylor wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Meyer is now in half guard.
Meyer is taking a breather. Taylor says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Taylor keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Taylor might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Meyer wants to pass the guard but Taylor is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Taylor is looking to improve his position.
Meyer passes to full mount!
Taylor really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
A nice elbow there by Meyer.

Taylor takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Taylor takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Meyer's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
