PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hung Dong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dong's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Lollipop - BIGBANG and 2NE1. Charles has chosen Muddy Waters- Hoochie Coochie Man as his entrance music. Ray Charles will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hung Dong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ray Charles!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Matheus Silva and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Charles chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Dong can pounce on him.
Dong changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Dong misses with a low kick.
Dong closes the distance and clinches up with Charles, looking for a takedown. Dong pushes Charles against the cage but Charles circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Charles connects with a body shot.
Dong throws a right and a left that Charles avoids nicely.
Dong scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Dong tries to score with a low kick but Charles moves his leg out of the way.

Dong gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Charles throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dong works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Charles slips a nice elbow through Dong's hands, connecting with Dong's forehead.
Dong is trying to maintain the position but Charles is very close to passing his half guard.

Dong makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Dong.
Dong tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Dong goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Charles turns into him and now he's in Dong's guard.
Charles wants to pass the guard but Dong is keeping the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Dong throws his legs up looking for a submission but Charles uses it to pass to side control.
Dong is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Dong might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Dong is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Charles uses his free foot to push down on Dong's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Dong.
Dong is in all sorts of trouble here.

That was a close round but I would say that Hung Dong will probably get the nod.

Dong looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

and Dong cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Charles cracks Dong with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Dong stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dong wants it to stay on the feet.

Charles ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Dong moves away.

Hung Dong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
