The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Cody Compton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Compton tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Nice sprawl there from Machida as Compton shoots in.
Compton tries to clinch up.
Compton fails with a takedown attempt.
Compton misses with a series of wild punches.
Machida throws a leg kick but Compton sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Machida ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Compton throws a series of strikes that have Machida backpedaling.
Machida lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Compton looks to land a combination but Machida avoids it well.

Machida really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Machida throws a front kick aimed at Compton's knee but Compton avoids it well.

Apollo Machida has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cody Compton.
Compton is looking to clinch but Machida is avoiding it.

Compton tries to bum rush Machida with a series of wild strikes but Machida uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Machida counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Compton is trying desperately to land a takedown but Machida is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Compton.

Machida lands a leg kick that knocks Compton off balance momentarily.
Machida throws a nice outside leg kick.
Compton has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Machida.
Machida moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Machida lands a nice leg kick that just misses Compton's sensitive parts.
Machida lands a head kick. Compton smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
A nice inside leg kick there by Machida. That's going to slow Compton down.
Compton chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Machida can pounce on him.
Compton takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Compton is rocked!
Machida cracks Compton on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Compton falls backwards against the cage. Machida follows up with more strikes that drop Compton to his knees. Machida keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Compton! This one is all over!
