Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Donato Russo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Craig Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Carter's choice of entrance music: Swedish House Mafia - One (Your Name). Craig Carter will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter throws a good cross that connects.
Russo throws a nice inside leg kick.
Carter buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Russo drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Carter is trying to keep Russo in close.
Carter managing to control the position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Carter is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Russo is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Russo drops back, looking for a kneebar! Carter looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Carter looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Carter!
Russo looks to move to half guard but instead Carter has passed into mount! Damn!

Russo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Carter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Carter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Carter wants to control from the top but Russo keeps moving.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Russo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Russo looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Carter passes into half guard.

A close round but Craig Carter will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Carter lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Russo.
Carter lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Nice shot lands for Carter.
Russo takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Carter throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Russo avoids the head kick by Carter.
Carter lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
It looks like Donato Russo has been cut.
Carter thows a leg kick but Russo checks it
and Russo counters with an outside leg kick.

Carter throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Russo sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Craig Carter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Carter closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Carter digs a good body shot into Russo's ribs.
Russo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carter as he jumps to the side.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Carter lands an overhand right.
Carter cracks Russo with a good jab.
Russo throws a leg kick
and Carter counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Craig Carter seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Carter thows a left - swing and a miss!
Carter changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Carter throws a series of punches but Russo avoids them all with ease.
A jab lands there for Carter.
Russo is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Carter.
Russo keeps Carter at a distance using the push kick.

and Russo counters with an outside leg kick.
Russo shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Russo showed some decent athleticism there.

Carter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Russo is working away from the top position though.
Russo misses with a head shot. Carter uses the momentum to regain guard.
Carter seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Carter keeping moving, preventing Russo from controlling successfully.
Russo missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Carter is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Carter manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Russo can't escape the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carter tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Craig Carter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Russo lands a nice looking kick to the body. Carter takes a step back to recover.
Carter throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Russo.
Carter throws a jab but it's blocked by Russo.
Craig Carter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Russo takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Russo throws a body kick that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carter lands with a shot to the body.

Carter throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Russo on the side of the head.
Carter connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Carter lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Russo is rocked!
Carter fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Russo to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Russo looks to clinch but Carter throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Russo taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
