Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 23 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mabishiro Sakamoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lang Langston!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Joseph Jones and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Langston is defended easily by Sakamoto.

Langston shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Sakamoto manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Langston has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sakamoto is proving hard to escape from.
Sakamoto is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Langston loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Langston gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Langston has taken the fight to the clinch.
Langston prevents a takedown attempt there.
Sakamoto is breathing heavily.
Langston manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Langston creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Langston is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Langston is pulling down on Sakamoto's head to control his posture.
Sakamoto wants to control from the top but Langston keeps moving.

Langston manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sakamoto manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sakamoto wants to control from the top but Langston keeps moving.

and Langston counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Sakamoto!
Sakamoto wants to control but Langston is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sakamoto is trying desperately to improve position.
Langston takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sakamoto tries to hold on but Langston pushes him away.

Langston is landing with some decent strikes but Sakamoto is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Lang Langston showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Langston is trying to drag Sakamoto to the mat but Sakamoto just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Mabishiro Sakamoto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lang Langston.

Sakamoto tries to score with a low kick but Langston moves his leg out of the way.
Langston shoots in for a takedown but Sakamoto shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Langston avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sakamoto looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Sakamoto is working to avoid the ground and pound but Langston connects with a decent elbow.
Langston connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Sakamoto some visible discomfort.
Langston remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
