PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ren Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Summer Madness (Extended Version) Remix . The key to victory for Ren Gracie has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ren Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jason Morgan!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Igor Prikhodko and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morgan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gracie but Gracie pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Gracie throws a series of punches but Morgan moves out of range.
Morgan moves out of range of the body kick from Gracie.
Gracie lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Gracie throws a body punch but Morgan moves out of range.
Gracie has his takedown stuffed

and Morgan counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gracie won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie is being controlled here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
I looks like Morgan might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Gracie is looking for a sweep.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gracie defending against the ground and pound.
Morgan remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Morgan tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Gracie is looking to regain half guard here but Morgan keeps moving and retains side control.
Gracie is working hard here to advance position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The ground and pound from Morgan seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Gracie is looking for a sweep.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A lull in the action here as Morgan stalls from top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Morgan dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Gracie looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Morgan pushes past his half guard into mount!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Let's hope that Morgan has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Morgan can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gracie is looking to escape.

Morgan stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Ren Gracie is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Morgan counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Morgan.

Morgan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Morgan is looking to advance position but Gracie has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Morgan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Morgan closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Morgan misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Morgan thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Morgan moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Morgan wants to control for a moment but Gracie uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Gracie missing with punches from the bottom.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Gracie moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Gracie can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Morgan controls the pace.

Gracie wants to hit a switch here but Morgan passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Gracie there!
Morgan controlling the pace for now.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gracie is looking to improve his position but Morgan isn't that keen on the idea.
Ren Gracie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jason Morgan is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Morgan wants to control the pace but Gracie is squirming around nicely.

Jason Morgan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Morgan winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
