Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lennie Briscoe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Bear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bob Bear is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lennie Briscoe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bob Bear!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Briscoe tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bear paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Bear shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Briscoe sprawls well. Briscoe wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bear gets slowly back to his feet.
Bear tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Bear fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Briscoe dodges the punch combination from Bear.

and Bear decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Briscoe's guard.

Briscoe knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bear on the ground.
Bear wants to control from the top but Briscoe keeps moving.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bear accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Briscoe is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Bear has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Briscoe has control of Bear's left arm, preventing Bear from doing any damage.

Briscoe has his hands clasped together around Bear's back. He's all about the action.

Briscoe is refusing to be controlled, as Bear sits in half guard.

Bob Bear has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Briscoe is looking to clinch.
Bear shoots in for a takedown but Briscoe shows good takedown defense.
Lennie Briscoe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Bear.
Bear tries to score a power double leg takedown but Briscoe sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bear somewhat.
Bear slaps away a takedown attempt from Briscoe, before circling back to the center of the mat.

and Briscoe counters with a shoot takedown. Bear fights it but they end up in guard.
Briscoe wants to pass the guard but Bear is keeping the position.

Briscoe wants to stand but Bear is controlling his arm.
Bear is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Briscoe stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Bear to get to his feet.
Briscoe tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bear paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Bear fails with the takedown

and Briscoe counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bear won't be happy with that.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Briscoe throws an elbow but Bear slips to the side and avoids it well.
Bear tries to improve position but can't.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lennie Briscoe dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Briscoe lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Briscoe content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Bear scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Briscoe manages to mount him!
Bear is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Briscoe scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Bear is breathing heavily.

Briscoe jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Bear is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Bear and Briscoe has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Bear regains half guard there - taking advantage of Briscoe's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Briscoe is looking to advance position but Bear has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Briscoe avoids a series of strikes thrown by Bear.
Briscoe holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Bear tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Briscoe is squirming around, avoiding Bear's attempts to control the action.

Bear goes for an armbar but Briscoe turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Briscoe.

Bear is looking for a triangle but Briscoe pushes his legs off easily.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Bear keeps the fight on the outside.

Briscoe tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Bear jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Briscoe walks away with a smile on his face. Bear gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Briscoe has Bear pressed against the cage, preventing Bear from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Briscoe jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bear walks away with a smile on his face. Briscoe gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Bear manages to work his way to half guard, despite Briscoe's best efforts.

Bear is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Briscoe is looking to advance position but Bear won't allow it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bear tries to hold on but Briscoe pushes him away.

Bear tries to lock up and control but Briscoe gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Bear is squirming around, avoiding Briscoe's attempts to control the action.
Briscoe cracks Bear with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Bear is desperately trying to improve his position but Briscoe has a good base and remains in mount.
Bear is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Briscoe wants to control the pace but Bear is squirming around nicely.
Briscoe controlling the position easily from mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Briscoe trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Briscoe tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Briscoe looking to control but Bear is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

We're going to have a standup here because Lennie Briscoe wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Briscoe turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Briscoe manages to end up in side control.

Bear takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Bear wants to control but Briscoe postures up.
Bear tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Bear is trying to control Briscoe's posture but Briscoe avoids it.
Briscoe tries to stand but Bear is controlling his head.
Bear is not content to let Briscoe control the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Lennie Briscoe showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Briscoe, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
