PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hank Tyrell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rudolfo Halopovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rudolfo Halopovic!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, David Schapiro and Alyssa Summers.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Halopovic keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Tyrell shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Halopovic pinned against the cage. Halopovic gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Halopovic closes the distance and clinches.

Halopovic escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A swing and a miss from Halopovic.

Halopovic closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Tyrell tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Halopovic just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hank Tyrell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A hook to the body from Halopovic.
Tyrell has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Halopovic is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Tyrell pulls guard successfully.
Halopovic content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Halopovic is stalling in the full guard.

Tyrell had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Halopovic is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Tyrell Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Halopovic's back instead.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Tyrell's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Halopovic trying to control the action but Tyrell just sinks the hooks in.
Halopovic wants to escape the position.
Halopovic manages to reverse the position and now he's in Tyrell's guard. Nice work there by Halopovic.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tyrell tries to strike from the bottom.
Halopovic wants to control from the top but Tyrell keeps moving.
Tyrell controls Halopovic momentarily but Halopovic frees himself.
Tyrell is breathing heavily.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Halopovic throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Tyrell.
Halopovic steps into range and cracks Tyrell with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Tyrell flops backwards and Halopovic dives into his guard looking to finish!

Tyrell is rocked!

It looks like Hank Tyrell has been cut.
Halopovic controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Oh Tyrell is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Tyrell looking for a sweep. Not yet Tyrell, not yet.
Tyrell seems to have got his legs back now.

Halopovic looking to pass the guard.
Tyrell looking to hit a scissor sweep but Halopovic is one step ahead there.
Halopovic missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Tyrell is wriggling around but Halopovic manages to pass to half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Halopovic working the head and body with strikes.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Halopovic in particular looking to stall.
Halopovic is keen to just control but Tyrell is a slippery customer.
Halopovic really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tyrell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Halopovic is controlling the pace.

Halopovic decides to return to a standing position.

Halopovic scores with a nice right hand.
Tyrell is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Tyrell shoots in but no luck this time.
Tyrell shoots in and drives through. Halopovic sprawls well.
Halopovic looks to clinch
and Tyrell counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Halopovic throws a left and a right that both miss

and Tyrell counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Halopovic is looking to improve his position.
Halopovic trying to control but Tyrell postures up.
Halopovic tries to roll over but Tyrell keeps him under control.
Tyrell uses his free foot to push down on Halopovic's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Halopovic.
Halopovic gets back to half guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tyrell landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Halopovic wants to control but Tyrell is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Tyrell is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Halopovic wants to sweep but Tyrell has passed to side control!
Halopovic is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Halopovic wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Tyrell has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Halopovic's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Halopovic is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Tyrell!
