Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alex Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tito Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ortiz has chosen Break Stuff as his entrance music. Tito Ortiz acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alex Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tito Ortiz!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua swings for the body but Ortiz moves out of range.
Ortiz wants to clinch but Rua slips to the side
and Rua counters with a nice leg kick.
Rua misses with a straight right.
Rua circles away from the clinch attempt
letting Rua counter with a right hand.
Rua throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ortiz throws an off balance right hand

and Rua counters with a takedown into side control.
Rua in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Rua working the ground and pound but Ortiz is defending the strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rua is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ortiz has escaped the position, nice work there.
Rua lands a nice forearm strike.
Rua throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Ortiz works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Ortiz is looking for a sweep. Rua is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are battling for position here. Ortiz manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Ortiz working for a triangle but Rua defends it easily.
Rua working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Ortiz's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ortiz controls Rua momentarily but Rua frees himself.

Ortiz looking for a guillotine here but Rua defends easily.
Rua trying to control but Ortiz is working from the bottom.
Rua controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rua stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ortiz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ortiz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Ortiz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rua defends it easily.
Rua looking to pass the guard.

Ortiz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rua doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rua manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Rua throwing strikes from guard but Ortiz blocks nicely.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Ortiz is looking for a triangle but Rua pushes his legs off easily.
Rua trying to control but Ortiz is working from the bottom.
Rua throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Ortiz keeping moving, preventing Rua from controlling successfully.

Ortiz has his foot on Rua's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rua works his way back into a safe position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alex Rua dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Rua misses with a low kick.
Ortiz moves in looking to clinch but Rua pushes him off.
Ortiz with a poor takedown
and Rua makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Ortiz fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Ortiz misses with a hook

and Rua moves into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rua is trying to push Ortiz away but Ortiz has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Ortiz can't find room to land a body shot as Rua controls the action.
Rua pushes Ortiz back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Rua swings wildly with an uppercut but Ortiz uses good head movement to avoid it.
Rua will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Ortiz up against the cage.
Still in the clinch, Rua scores with a nice short uppercut.

Rua working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Ortiz wants to break the clinch but can't.
Rua lands a body punch in the clinch.
Rua working aggressively here.
Ortiz misses with a hook from the clinch.

Rua breaks the clinch.
Nice defenses there by Ortiz.
Ortiz misses with a double jab
letting Rua counter with a right hand.
Ortiz is breathing heavily.
Rua tries to work over Ortiz's front leg with a kick but Ortiz checks it.
Rua tries to clinch up but Ortiz circles away and keeps his distance.
Ortiz doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Rua cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Alex Rua has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tito Ortiz.

Rua throws a right hand that Ortiz ducks under and follows up with a left that Ortiz also avoids with ease.
Ortiz throws a poor cross that misses
and Rua counters with a leg kick.
Tito Ortiz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rua shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Rua was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Rua has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ortiz is trying to escape the mount.
Ortiz takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.


Ortiz is rocked!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A big strike lands for Rua! That's really hurt Ortiz and he's turned his back - Rua keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Rua jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alex Rua!
