And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Higgins scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Higgins is working for a submission of some sort.
Penn is defending against the submission attempts here by Higgins.
Higgins passes to full mount!
Higgins avoids the attempt from Penn to control.
Higgins throws some wild stikes that Penn manages to avoid easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Penn holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Higgins tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Higgins wants to control but instead Penn manages to regain half guard.

Higgins looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Higgins is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Higgins is looking for a kimura but Penn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Higgins to get the leverage.
Higgins prevents Penn from improving his position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Higgins is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Penn is just riding it out for now. Higgins eventually gives up the hold.
Higgins passes to side control.
Higgins is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Penn knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Penn is not content to let Higgins control the position.
Higgins is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Penn looks calm but he's in trouble here. Higgins gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Penn is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Higgins lets go of the hold and Penn can pop his arm back in it's socket.
