PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Lytle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and ADAM ROBLES (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lytle's entrance music is misery business. A fine choice. ROBLES has chosen WHO LET THE DOGS OUT as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Lytle is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris Lytle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, ADAM ROBLES!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

ROBLES clinches.
Lytle is breathing heavily.
ROBLES lands an elbow inside.


Chris Lytle's cut is getting worse.
ROBLES is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

ROBLES breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

ROBLES gets the takedown into side control.

ROBLES decides to stand back up.
ROBLES shoots in for a takedown but Lytle shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from ROBLES.
Chris Lytle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of ADAM ROBLES.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
ROBLES working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Lytle on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Lytle leaves ROBLES with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
ROBLES looks to land a combination but Lytle avoids it well.
Lytle scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Lytle's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Lytle duly obliges.
ROBLES fails with a takedown attempt.
Chris Lytle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lytle lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

ROBLES avoids a punch combination nicely.

ROBLES seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
ROBLES takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
ROBLES is trying to control. Lytle wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
ROBLES works his way into full mount!
Lytle is looking to get to half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Poor strikes thrown by ROBLES there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Lytle is looking to improve his position but ROBLES isn't that keen on the idea.
Lytle regains half guard.
Lytle is staying active underneath ROBLES, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Lytle is trying to stand back up but ROBLES is controlling him
Lytle wants to control but ROBLES is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Lytle makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Lytle.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


ROBLES moves forwards but Lytle connects with a nice, crisp jab.

ROBLES shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lytle napping and manages to drive through into side control!
ROBLES works to advance to full mount. Lytle defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
ROBLES looking to control but Lytle is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

and ROBLES holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

ROBLES's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Lytle throws a series of punches but ROBLES moves out of range.
Lytle scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lytle throws a right hand that ROBLES ducks under and follows up with a left that ROBLES also avoids with ease.
Lytle scores with a one two! ROBLES had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Lytle throws a right and a left that both miss.
Lytle rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but ROBLES moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

ROBLES takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

ROBLES shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

ROBLES closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lytle to the mat! Lytle manages to get full guard.

ROBLES got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lytle has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, ROBLES has managed to get both his arms back between Lytle's legs - danger averted.

Lytle wants to stand and escape but ROBLES is having none of it.

Lytle will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Lytle is trying to keep ROBLES in close.
ROBLES is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

ROBLES drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lytle manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now ROBLES has Lytle in his guard.

ADAM ROBLES showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Lytle circles away from the clinch attempt.
ROBLES misses with a head kick.
ROBLES shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lytle defends it nicely.
ROBLES moves in looking to clinch but Lytle pushes him off.
ROBLES doesn't manage to clinch there - Lytle circles away.

and ROBLES counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Lytle!

ROBLES can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lytle is looking to escape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
ROBLES is chipping away with strikes.
Lytle throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Lytle tries to strike but it doesn't land.

ROBLES decides to stand back up.

ROBLES in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

ROBLES decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
ROBLES lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
ROBLES closes the distance and clinches up with Lytle, looking for a takedown. ROBLES pushes Lytle against the cage but Lytle circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

ROBLES tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lytle swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Chris Lytle has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Lytle throws a combination that misses

and ROBLES counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Lytle's guard now.

Lytle looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
ROBLES pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lytle is keeping the position for now.

Lytle bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in ROBLES's guard.
Lytle wants to pass the guard but ROBLES is keeping the position.
Lytle stands up over ROBLES, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
ROBLES not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
ROBLES might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Lytle kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
