PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Drew Harrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edgar Wizard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harrison's entrance music is Go To Sleep. A fine choice. Edgar Wizard will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Drew Harrison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edgar Wizard!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, David Schapiro and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Harrison closes the distance and clinches.
Wizard throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Harrison blocks it with crossed arms.

Harrison turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Harrison working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Wizard is looking for a sweep.
Wizard is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Wizard is not content to let Harrison control the position.

Wizard sneaks back into half guard.
Harrison perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Wizard has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Harrison is working away from the top position though.
Harrison works his foot free and advances to mount.

Wizard is wriggling around trying to escape.

Wizard tries to lock up and control but Harrison gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Wizard tries to reverse the position but Harrison maintains control.

Harrison is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Wizard to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Wizard shrugs it off.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Harrison has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Wizard's face.

Wizard is trying to escape the mount.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Wizard shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Harrison but Harrison pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Harrison throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Wizard shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Wizard is breathing heavily.
Wizard working over Harrison with some ground and pound. Harrison looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Wizard seems to be working for a kimura but Harrison defends the submission attempt.
Wizard is looking to advance position but Harrison won't allow it.

Harrison moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Harrison controls Wizard momentarily but Wizard frees himself.
Wizard throwing strikes but missing.
Harrison working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Wizard.
Wizard with a flurry of punches that miss.
Harrison not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Harrison avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Harrison is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Wizard is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Harrison is trying to control the action in half guard but Wizard is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wizard is trying to maintain the position but Harrison is very close to passing his half guard.
Wizard tries to get to full guard but Harrison has control of the leg.
Harrison is trying to control the action in half guard but Wizard is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Harrison.
Wizard throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Harrison's waist but Harrison gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wizard off to one side.

and Wizard counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Wizard.
Harrison pulls Wizard in close to prevent any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Edgar Wizard showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Wizard throws a series of punches but Harrison moves out of range.
Wizard shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

so Harrison counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Harrison is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Wizard is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Harrison is controlling him.
Wizard takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Harrison's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Wizard keeping moving, preventing Harrison from controlling successfully.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Harrison seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Drew Harrison wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Wizard throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Harrison was covering up waiting for the punch and Wizard finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Harrison is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Harrison cracks Wizard with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Wizard really wants to buck Harrison off and get back to his feet.
Harrison takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
