PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tomato Can (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorden Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ellis is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by M.E.T.H.O.D. Man. On his way into the cage it seems that Tomato Can has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Tomato Can seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tomato Can!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jorden Ellis!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ellis fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Ellis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Can as he jumps to the side.
Ellis tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Can swivels and escapes.
Tomato Can has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jorden Ellis.
Ellis throws a nice looking combination but Can bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Can wants to clinch up but Ellis keeps it at a distance.
Ellis throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Ellis shoots in and drives through. Can sprawls well.
Ellis fails with a takedown attempt.
Ellis throws the kick towards the body but Can avoids it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ellis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Can as he jumps to the side.
Ellis is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Ellis looks gassed!
Ellis looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Ellis looks for a takedown but Can sprawls well.
Can moves out of range of the body kick from Ellis.

Can fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ellis, pushing him back against the cage.

Can has picked Ellis up - he's going for a ride! Can dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Can trying to pass the guard but Ellis defending well.
Can is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Can slows the pace down in half guard.
Ellis won't allow Can to pass to mount.
Well, if Can is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Can seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ellis for as long as he can get away with.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Tomato Can just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Can clinches with his opponent.

Ellis is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Can can't fight it off and eventually Ellis manages to take the fight to the floor. Can looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Can is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Ellis throws a big right hand that misses.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Can is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ellis is looking to improve his position.
Can content to control rather than advance.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ellis tries to roll over but Can keeps him under control.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Can landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Ellis gets back to full guard.
Ellis is trying to control the position but Can postures up.
Ellis is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Can might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Ellis looking to hit a scissor sweep but Can is one step ahead there.
Can postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Can looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Can is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Ellis wants to control but Can is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Can in particular looking to stall.
Can has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Ellis can't find room to land a body shot as Can controls the action.
Can has Ellis pressed against the cage.
Can is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Can tries to score a body lock takedown but Ellis shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Can prevents Ellis from breaking the clinch.
Ellis prevents the takedown attempt.

Ellis wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Can has him pressed against the cage.

Can tightens his grip and picks Ellis up, before dumping him to the ground. Ellis manages to land in guard.

Can is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Ellis can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Ellis is trying to get back to full guard.
Can controlling the action here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ellis is trying to maintain the position but Can is very close to passing his half guard.

Can looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Ellis has his takedown stuffed

and Can counters by clinching up.
Tomato Can has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jorden Ellis.
Can is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Ellis lands an elbow inside.


It looks like Tomato Can has been cut.
Can on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Ellis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Can throws a leg kick but Ellis sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Can has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Ellis.
Can dodges the punch combination from Ellis.
Ellis misses with a kick to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tomato Can showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Can, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
