Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Smokey Sullivan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Black might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Pixies - Hey. Frank Black could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Smokey Sullivan's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Smokey Sullivan!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Franklyn Lucas and Reed Andrews.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Black lands a body shot.
Black fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Black is looking to slow Sullivan down with leg kicks.
An inside leg kick lands from Sullivan.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Black tries to clinch but Sullivan is having none of it.
Black shoots in but no luck this time.
Black scoring well with a low kick there.
Sullivan looks gassed!
Black shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sullivan but Sullivan pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Sullivan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sullivan wants it to stay on the feet.
Black misses with a series of wild punches.
Black shoots in and drives through. Sullivan sprawls well.

Black changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Sullivan fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Smokey Sullivan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Black pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Black counters with a nice body shot.

and Black counters with a good low kick that Sullivan was not able to check.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Black shoots in for a double leg but Sullivan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Black has Sullivan up against the cage in a clinch.

Black breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Black lands a right hook to the body.
Black shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sullivan sprawls well. Sullivan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Black gets slowly back to his feet.

Black dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Black closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Black tries to stand but can't do so whilst Sullivan controls his leg.
Black seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sullivan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Black in particular looking to stall.

Sullivan wants to control but Black is keeping busy.

Black gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Black lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Sullivan keeps the fight on the outside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Black dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Black with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
The fight stays on the outside here - Black looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Frank Black is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Black ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Black looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Black looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Black looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sullivan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Black is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Sullivan is breathing heavily.

Black moves into full mount! Sullivan won't be happy about that!
Sullivan blocking the ground and pound.
Black trying to control but Sullivan is having none of it.
Black throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Sullivan because Black loaded up on that one.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sullivan can do anything to dispel that myth.

Black swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Sullivan is now in Black's guard. A big mistake from Black there, giving up the dominant position!
Sullivan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Sullivan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Sullivan wants to control from the top but Black keeps moving.

Black wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Black throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Sullivan escapes and throws Black's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Black wants to get back to his feet but Sullivan drags him back down.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Black manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Black won't allow Sullivan to pass to mount.
Sullivan working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Black's thigh. Black counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Black is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Black shoots in looking for a takedown. Sullivan tries to sprawl out of it but Black keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sullivan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

A nice inside leg kick there by Black. That's going to slow Sullivan down.
Black is looking to wear down Sullivan with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Black shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sullivan as he jumps to the side.

Sullivan misses the body punch
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Black is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sullivan can do to turn this around?
Good leg kick by Black there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Horrible takedown by Black or perhaps it was just good defense by Sullivan which made him look bad.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Black tries to pull guard but Sullivan holds him up against the cage and eventually Black drops back down to his feet.
Black drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Sullivan gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Black pushes off an throws an elbow but Sullivan leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Smokey Sullivan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Frank Black.
Well Black has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
