Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Mott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anthony King is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Mott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anthony King!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Leandro Rodrigues and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

King drives through with a takedown into guard.

King drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mott manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now King has Mott in his guard.
Mott wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mott throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as King works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

King wants to sweep here but Mott controlling him for the moment.

Mott drops back looking for a leg! King is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and King manages to kick Mott off! Mott jumps back into King's guard.

Mott is trying to control the action in half guard but King is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
King has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mott is working away from the top position though.
King tries to kick Mott off but Mott keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
King is refusing to be controlled, as Mott sits in half guard.

We're going to have a standup here because John Mott wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from King.
King shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mott but Mott pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Mott feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Mott is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

King throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Mott escapes and throws King's legs to the side, diving into side control!

King has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mott can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Mott tries to free his leg and advance position but King is retaining full guard.

King has his foot on Mott's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mott works his way back into a safe position though.
Mott is working King over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

That was a close round but I would say that John Mott will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Mott fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. King sprawls well initially but Mott persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Mott is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because King is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
King sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Mott seems to be working for a kimura but King defends the submission attempt.
King regains full guard. Nicely done.

King escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mott gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

King working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mott doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mott manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

King's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
