PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lewis Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hans Dekker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lewis Wood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hans Dekker!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dekker swats away the attempt to clinch by Wood.
Wood throws a series of punches but Dekker moves out of range.
Wood throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dekker's waist but Dekker gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wood off to one side.
Wood misses with a few strikes there.

Dekker moves into the clinch.
Dekker misses with a knee to the head.
Dekker looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Dekker breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Dekker throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Wood.
Dekker throws a right hand that Wood ducks under and follows up with a left that Wood also avoids with ease.
Wood has a takedown stuffed.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dekker closes the distance and pushes Wood back into the cage.
Dekker wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Dekker throws a knee to the head but misses.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wood distracts Dekker with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Wood shoots in looking for a takedown. Dekker tries to sprawl out of it but Wood keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dekker manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Wood counters with a left and a right that stings Dekker.

Dekker slaps away a takedown attempt from Wood, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Dekker tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wood swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Wood counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Dekker!

Wood with shots to the head and body - Dekker looks very uncomfortable down there.
Dekker's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Hans Dekker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wood tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dekker sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Wood somewhat.

Dekker is pressed up against the cage. Wood has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Dekker down to the mat. Dekker avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Lewis Wood showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Wood, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
