Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Trent Strope (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Trent Strope!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Miller!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Eliza Hachem and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Strope.
Miller looks to score with a jab to the body but Strope is just out of range.
Miller keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Nice takedown defense from Strope. No joy for Miller on that attempt.

Miller gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Strope manages to break the clinch.
Miller throws a head kick but Strope moves out of range.
Strope bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Miller's head.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Miller drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Strope has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Miller has passed into side control.

Miller decides to stand up, so the ref orders Strope to his feet.
Miller checks the leg kick nicely there.
Strope's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Strope duly obliges.


It looks like Jason Miller has been cut.
Strope lands with a cross.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Strope goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Strope works the jab nicely.
Strope misses with a wild combination.
Strope misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Miller takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Trent Strope seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Strope is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Miller will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Strope throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Strope sizes up Miller with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Strope thuds his right hand into Miller's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Miller looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Strope is fending him off so far but Miller persists. Nope, Strope circles away and we're back to standing.
Strope looks to land a combination. Miller sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Miller takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Miller shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Strope lands with a right hand.
Strope scores with a nice head shot.
Miller fails with a takedown attempt.
Strope jabs at Miller's body.
Strope throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Strope ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Miller moves away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Strope ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Strope looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Strope throws a hook to the side of Miller's head but Miller sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Miller closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Trent Strope will probably get the nod.

That's time! Strope's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Miller shoots for a double leg takedown but Strope sprawls well. He's pushed Miller's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Miller fails to land with a series of punches.
Miller misses with a series of wild punches.
Strope scores with a one two! Miller had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Miller shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Strope sprawls well. Strope wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Miller gets slowly back to his feet.

Miller has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Strope swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Miller closes the distance and clinches up with Strope, looking for a takedown. Miller pushes Strope against the cage but Strope circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Miller shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Miller.
Miller changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Strope tries to avoid it but Miller manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Strope to the ground. Strope escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Miller wants to control but Strope is keeping him busy.

Miller is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Strope is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Miller has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Strope is letting Miller control him for a moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Strope is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Miller asserts his dominance and retains side control.

That was a close second round but I would say that Trent Strope will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Strope wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Miller tries to score a power double leg takedown but Strope sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Miller somewhat.
Strope lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Strope fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Miller manages to avoid it.

Strope stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Strope wants it to stay on the feet.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Miller shoots in looking for a takedown. Strope tries to sprawl out of it but Miller keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Strope manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Strope has a hand on Miller's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Miller takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Strope tries to lock up and control but Miller gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Miller trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Strope tries to reverse the position but Miller maintains control.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Strope, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
