PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aleksei Kandrin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Radical Bruiser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bruiser is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Billionaire. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aleksei Kandrin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Radical Bruiser!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Anthony Taglia and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kandrin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bruiser as he jumps to the side.
Bruiser pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bruiser with a poor takedown

and Kandrin counters with a takedown into side control.
Bruiser regains half guard.
Kandrin scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Kandrin is keen to just control but Bruiser is a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kandrin is working for a submission of some sort.
Bruiser trying to control here.
Kandrin controlling the action here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bruiser wants to get back to his feet.
Bruiser wants to control but Kandrin is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Kandrin is looking to stall here but Bruiser recovers full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Bruiser drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kandrin wants to sweep here but Bruiser controlling him for the moment.
Bruiser stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kandrin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kandrin wants to improve his position but instead Bruiser has moved into half guard.
Kandrin tries to roll over but Bruiser keeps him under control.
Bruiser lands strikes from half guard.
Kandrin scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Bruiser manages to mount him!
Kandrin is breathing heavily.
Kandrin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Bruiser tries to control but Kandrin wriggling away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kandrin can't escape the position.
Bruiser controlling from mount.
Bruiser wants to control the pace but Kandrin is squirming around nicely.

Bruiser stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Kandrin avoids a kick to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kandrin tries to clinch up.
Bruiser keeps the fight on the outside.
Bruiser misses with a takedown

and Kandrin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Bruiser pushes Kandrin off and scrambles back to his feet.
Kandrin throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Bruiser circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kandrin swats away the attempt to clinch by Bruiser.
Kandrin wants to clinch but Bruiser slips to the side

so Bruiser counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bruiser pushes down on Kandrin's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Kandrin tries to get to full guard but Bruiser has control of the leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Radical Bruiser will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Excellent takedown into side control there by Bruiser.
Kandrin is trying to improve his position.
Kandrin is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Bruiser is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Bruiser lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Kandrin defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Bruiser.
Kandrin tries to hold on but Bruiser pushes him away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kandrin keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Bruiser landing punches.

Bruiser working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Kandrin wants to hold on but Bruiser pushes him away.
Bruiser can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kandrin is looking to escape.
Kandrin is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bruiser seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Kandrin is holding on tight.

Bruiser has control of Kandrin's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kandrin regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Kandrin sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bruiser prevents Kandrin from improving his position.
Kandrin trying to hold on to Bruiser's head to control him but Bruiser postures up.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Bruiser lands a nice short elbow.
Kandrin is looking to control Bruiser's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kandrin avoid being mounted?
Kandrin is trying to stand.
Kandrin trying to control but Bruiser postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bruiser looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Bruiser gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Bruiser shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bruiser showed some decent athleticism there.
Kandrin is staying active underneath Bruiser, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kandrin is trying to maintain the position but Bruiser is very close to passing his half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Radical Bruiser showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


A head kick by Kandrin misses

and Bruiser counters with a takedown into side control.
Bruiser tries to advance to mount but can't.

Bruiser decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Bruiser closes the distance and clinches.
Kandrin taking a breather.

Bruiser breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kandrin looks to clinch

and Bruiser counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Kandrin goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Kandrin tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kandrin fails to pull guard.
Kandrin working hard to break the clinch.

Bruiser manages to pull guard.
Kandrin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bruiser is keeping the position for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bruiser working a defensive guard here.
Kandrin slips nicely into half guard.
Bruiser is pressing down on Kandrin's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Kandrin trying to control but Bruiser is working from the bottom.
Kandrin is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Bruiser is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Bruiser is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kandrin is aware though and is defending well.
Bruiser keeping moving, preventing Kandrin from controlling successfully.
Bruiser lands a couple of decent looking body shots there.
Kandrin wants to control from the top but Bruiser keeps moving.
Bruiser not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Radical Bruiser has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kandrin with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bruiser has control of Kandrin's left arm, preventing Kandrin from doing any damage.
Kandrin trying to control but Bruiser is working from the bottom.
Bruiser wants to stand up but Kandrin is controlling him.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Kandrin moves into the clinch successfully.
Kandrin misses with a knee to the head.
Kandrin is trying to force a seperation but Bruiser has the dominant position.

Bruiser pulls guard effortlessly.
Bruiser seems keen to control Kandrin's posture.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kandrin wants to control from the top but Bruiser keeps moving.

Bruiser pushes Kandrin off and scrambles back to his feet.
Kandrin thows a left - swing and a miss!
Bruiser tries to clinch there but Kandrin circles away.
Kandrin lands with a slapping head kick.
Bruiser throws a nice looking combination but Kandrin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Aleksei Kandrin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Radical Bruiser is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Kandrin gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Radical Bruiser comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Bruiser winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
