PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tom Kazansky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Knogen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kazansky comes to the cage accompanied by Danger Zone. Richard Knogen will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tom Kazansky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Richard Knogen!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knogen rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kazansky moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Knogen throws a right and a left that Kazansky avoids nicely.
Knogen leaves Kazansky with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kazansky shoots in but no luck this time.
Kazansky swats away the attempt to clinch by Knogen.
Kazansky shoots in looking for a takedown. Knogen tries to sprawl out of it but Kazansky keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Knogen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tom Kazansky. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Knogen lands a jab-cross combination.
Knogen tries to bum rush Kazansky with a series of wild strikes but Kazansky uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Knogen connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Kazansky momentarily.
Knogen throws a right and a left that Kazansky avoids nicely.

Knogen scores a takedown into full mount!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Knogen looking to control but Kazansky is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Kazansky throwing hammer fists to the chest of Knogen. What's that going to do exactly?
Knogen content just to control the position here.
Kazansky tries to lock up and control but Knogen gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Knogen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Richard Knogen was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Knogen connects with a looping right hand.
A punch combination from Knogen misses.
Knogen misses with the combination.
Kazansky shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Kazansky throws an overhand right that lands on Knogen's shoulder, as Knogen tries to avoid the shot.
Knogen lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Kazansky backs up against the cage.
Knogen misses with a few strikes there.

and Knogen counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Knogen is working Kazansky over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Knogen gets to his feet - Kazansky follows without any prompting.
Knogen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kazansky.
Kazansky on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Knogen. Knogen obviously looking to wear him down.
Richard Knogen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kazansky showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Knogen.
A nice leg kick lands there from Knogen.
Kazansky is breathing heavily.
Kazansky dodges the punch combination from Knogen.

and Knogen counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.


Kazansky is rocked!
Knogen feints a jab and as Kazansky dips his head, Knogen unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Kazansky right on the jaw! Timbeeer! Kazansky falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! Knogen smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Richard Knogen!
