Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nobutaka Hiyoshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryan Sherk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hiyoshi comes to the cage accompanied by Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nobutaka Hiyoshi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bryan Sherk!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from Hiyoshi misses its intended target.
Hiyoshi misses with a looping right.
Sherk tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hiyoshi swivels and escapes.
Sherk jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Sherk closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Hiyoshi works his way to full guard. Good work.
Hiyoshi can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sherk controls the pace.
Sherk lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Sherk trying to control the position from guard on top but Hiyoshi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sherk is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Sherk is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hiyoshi is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hiyoshi has escaped and now he's on top!
Hiyoshi wants to control from the top but Sherk keeps moving.

Hiyoshi is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Hiyoshi wants to control from the top but Sherk keeps moving.
Hiyoshi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sherk swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sherk not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Sherk is controlling Hiyoshi's posture.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Sherk closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hiyoshi to the mat! Hiyoshi manages to get full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Sherk shoots in and drives through. Hiyoshi sprawls well.
Sherk fails with the takedown.
The fighters circling - Sherk throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Hiyoshi throws a jab but it's blocked by Sherk.
Sherk will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Nobutaka Hiyoshi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bryan Sherk.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sherk takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Hiyoshi fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Sherk is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Hiyoshi throws a hook to the side of Sherk's head but Sherk sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Hiyoshi lands a lovely overhand right.
Nobutaka Hiyoshi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Sherk takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Hiyoshi is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sherk.
Hiyoshi moves out of range of the strikes.
Hiyoshi keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Sherk looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hiyoshi throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sherk ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Sherk shoots for a takedown but Hiyoshi saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Sherk uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hiyoshi.
Hiyoshi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sherk manages to avoid it.
Sherk moves out of range as Hiyoshi strikes.
Hiyoshi misses with a double jab
and Sherk counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Sherk drops his hands momentarily and Hiyoshi takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

and Sherk counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Hiyoshi tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sherk was well out of range. Poor timing from Hiyoshi.

Sherk shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Nobutaka Hiyoshi showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Hiyoshi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
