Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Rejo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Mortensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rejo comes to the cage accompanied by Let me hear you SCREAM. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Rejo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Mortensen!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Dean Styles and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rejo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mortensen tries to avoid it but Rejo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mortensen to the ground. Mortensen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mortensen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mortensen wants it to stay on the feet.
Rejo shoots in for a takedown but Mortensen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Rejo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rejo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mortensen pinned against the cage. Mortensen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Rejo fails to land the takedown.
Mortensen stuffs the takedown attempt from Rejo. Rejo gets slowly back to his feet.
Rejo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mortensen but Mortensen pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mortensen leaves Rejo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Rejo motions for Mortensen to come forward. Rejo throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Mortensen darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Mortensen decides to return to a standing position.

and Mortensen counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Mortensen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Let's hope that Mortensen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mortensen is keen to just control but Rejo is a slippery customer.

Mortensen decides to stand up.
A looping hook to the body misses from Rejo. Mortensen does a little dance to reset his feet.

and Mortensen counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mortensen.
Rejo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Mortensen just stands there and leans against the cage.
Rejo fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Rejo jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mortensen walks away with a smile on his face. Rejo gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Rejo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mortensen smiles and moves away.
Rejo stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Mortensen.

Rejo shoots and misses

and Mortensen counters with a takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mortensen controls the position from side control.
Rejo is working to avoid the ground and pound but Mortensen connects with a decent elbow.

Mortensen decides to stand back up.

Mortensen decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Mortensen stands up and beckons Rejo to join him on the feet.

and Mortensen counters with a lovely shot to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

so Mortensen counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Mortensen is in close to Rejo's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Rejo is trying to control the position but Mortensen postures up.

Rejo is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Rejo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mortensen smiles and moves away.

Rejo jumps guard but Mortensen stands there with Rejo around his waist. Rejo gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Mortensen is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Rejo can't fight it off and eventually Mortensen manages to take the fight to the floor. Rejo looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Mortensen winds up and cracks Rejo with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

David Mortensen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Mortensen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rejo to the mat! Rejo manages to get full guard.

Rejo has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Mortensen should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Rejo has tightened it up now! Mortensen should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
