PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Russell Jacobs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frankestein Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jacobs comes to the cage accompanied by WhiteRabbit-Percussion Gun. Mir has chosen FRANKIE by 80Kidz; So Coool! as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Russell Jacobs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frankestein Mir!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jacobs misses with a wild body shot.
Mir avoids the body shot from Jacobs.
Jacobs misses with a looping left.
Mir takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Mir feints and as Jacobs raises his hands in defense, Mir changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Mir drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jacobs dives on top into guard.

Jacobs postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mir is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jacobs, into his guard.
Mir tries to free his leg and advance position but Jacobs is retaining full guard.
Mir is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jacobs not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jacobs pulls Mir in to control the position.
Mir stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jacobs swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Russell Jacobs.

Mir darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Jacobs keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Mir uses his free foot to push down on Jacobs's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jacobs.

Jacobs is trying to stand up.

Jacobs defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Mir.

Mir goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Jacobs is on top in guard.
Mir has momentary wrist control but Jacobs slips an elbow through the middle.
Mir is adopting a defensive guard.
Jacobs stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mir swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mir has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jacobs can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Mir tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Mir keeping moving, preventing Jacobs from controlling successfully.
Mir utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jacobs is pushing down on Mir's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mir is fighting to maintain full guard but Jacobs has managed to sneak the leg through.
Mir is looking to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jacobs tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mir knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mir is looking to improve his position.
Jacobs trying to control from half guard but Mir is working away.
Mir moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Jacobs passes into half guard.
Mir regains full guard. Nicely done.
Jacobs preventing the sweep.

Mir throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Jacobs keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mir's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Russell Jacobs will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Jacobs counters with a nice uppercut.
Jacobs lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Mir throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Mir looks to score with a jab to the body but Jacobs is just out of range.
Jacobs stuffs the takedown.
Jacobs lands with a nice body punch.
Jacobs misses with a body shot

and Mir counters with a takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jacobs tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mir wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Jacobs tries to escape but Mir is in control.

Mir looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Mir thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Mir tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mir has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Frankestein Mir has got the better of the ground game so far.

Mir is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jacobs has escaped the position, nice work there.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Mir goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Jacobs rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Mir's guard! Nice work there by Jacobs!
Jacobs wants to pass the guard but Mir is keeping the position.

Jacobs thows a big elbow that misses.
Jacobs passes Mir's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Jacobs throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Mir is looking to improve his position.

Mir is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jacobs's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jacobs's back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jacobs is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Mir gets his way!

Jacobs is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Jacobs wants to control his opponent's hands but Mir gets his hands free.

Jacobs tries to roll but Mir sticks to his back.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mir looking to break Jacobs's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Jacobs remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Mir will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

That was a close second round but I would say that Russell Jacobs will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Mir takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Jacobs is looking to wear down Mir with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Jacobs blocks a jab.
Jacobs tries to move into range but Mir moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Jacobs throws a right and a left that Mir avoids nicely.
Jacobs throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Jacobs throws a jab when Mir was well out of range.
Mir shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jacobs as he avoids it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jacobs throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jacobs misses the shot to the body.

Mir scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Jacobs wants to control but Mir postures up.

Mir wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jacobs, who protects the arm well.

Mir is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jacobs has escaped the position, nice work there.

Mir tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Mir goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Jacobs has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Mir but great work by Jacobs.

Jacobs advances to mount.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Jacobs cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Mir wants to hold on but Jacobs pushes him away.
Jacobs with shots to the head and body - Mir looks very uncomfortable down there.
Mir takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Jacobs pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Mir in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.


Mir is rocked!
Jacobs fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Mir is still in real trouble! Can Jacobs finish him?
Mir working to try and regain half guard.
Mir seems to have recovered his senses.
Jacobs postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Mir badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Jacobs around the waist but Jacobs pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Jacobs is the winner by TKO! Jacobs jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Russell Jacobs!
