The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Alyssa Summers and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie tries to sprawl but Nelson drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Gracie wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Gracie manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Gracie not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Gracie holds on and takes a little breather.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Nelson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gracie for as long as he can get away with.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Nelson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gracie's guard.

Nelson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Nelson goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Gracie rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Nelson's guard! Nice work there by Gracie!

Gracie drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Nelson dives on top into guard.
Nelson postures up in Gracie's guard and throws a big left but Gracie blocks it.

Nelson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gracie manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nelson has Gracie in his guard.

Gracie drops back, looking for a kneebar! Nelson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Nelson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Nelson!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Nelson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Gracie has managed to free his arm - good work.

Nelson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Gracie has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nelson is working away from the top position though.

Gracie is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Royce Gracie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Nelson is looking for a kimura but Gracie is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nelson to get the leverage.

Nelson misses with a head shot. Gracie uses the momentum to regain guard.
