Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gavin Douglas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew Leach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Douglas comes to the ring accompanied by Drowning Pool - Step up. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Gavin Douglas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Matthew Leach!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Andrew Berry and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Douglas misses with a series of wild punches.
Leach is looking to clinch but Douglas is avoiding it.
Matthew Leach seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Douglas avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Leach rushes Douglas and presses him up against the ropes.
Leach lands a nice elbow.


It looks like Gavin Douglas has been cut.
Leach jumps guard but Douglas stands there with Leach around his waist. Leach gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Douglas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Leach can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Leach must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Leach got a little sloppy there for a moment and Douglas has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Leach has managed to get both his arms back between Douglas's legs - danger averted.
Leach has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Douglas is proving hard to escape from.

Douglas had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Leach defends it easily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Leach really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Douglas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Leach tries to clinch there but Douglas circles away.
Leach lands with a kick to the temple. Douglas shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Leach throws a sloppy head kick and Douglas moves out of range easily.
Leach shoots in looking for a takedown. Douglas tries to sprawl out of it but Leach keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Douglas manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Gavin Douglas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matthew Leach.
Leach shoots for a double leg takedown but Douglas sprawls well. He's pushed Leach's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Douglas looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Leach has picked Douglas up and slammed him! Douglas can't keep hold of the triangle and Leach manages to pass to side control!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Leach is looking to take a break and control but Douglas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Leach wants to stand but Douglas has his arm trapped.

Douglas wants to control but Leach passes easily into half guard.

Douglas has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Leach uses from the top position.

Douglas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Leach moves away.

Douglas drops back looking for a leg! Leach is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Leach manages to kick Douglas off! Douglas jumps back into Leach's guard.
Leach wants to stand and escape but Douglas is having none of it.

Douglas drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Leach manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Douglas has Leach in his guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Douglas looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Leach wants to stand but Douglas has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Leach is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Leach wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Douglas's closed guard. He's half up but Douglas has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Douglas pivots and extends the arm, Leach falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Douglas! Well done that man!
