PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Experiment Three (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Loki Norse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Experiment Three!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Loki Norse!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Matheus Silva and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Three just misses with a punch to the body.
Three avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Norse will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Norse looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Three is fending him off so far but Norse persists. Nope, Three circles away and we're back to standing.
Norse shoots in for a takedown but Three shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Experiment Three has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Loki Norse.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Norse.
Crunch! Norse slams his shin into Three's torso.

Three drives through with a takedown into guard.
Three looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Norse manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Three tries to hold on but Norse pushes him away.
Three is working to get back to half guard.
Three regains half guard.

Three is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Norse pulls his head out easily.
Three wants to get back to his feet.
Norse wants to stand but Three has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Three tries to roll over but Norse keeps him under control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Three is looking to control Norse's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Three avoid being mounted?
Three manages to get to full guard.

Three is looking for a triangle but Norse pushes his legs off easily.

Three is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Three looking for a guillotine here but Norse defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Three is breathing heavily.
Three keeping moving, preventing Norse from controlling successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Norse sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Three has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Norse can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Norse wants to control from the top but Three keeps moving.
Three keeping full guard, as Norse tries to pass.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Three is looking for a triangle but Norse pushes his legs off easily.

Three is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Three not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Three uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Three circles away from the clinch attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Experiment Three dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Norse with a poor takedown

and Three counters by moving into the clinch.
Three drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Three fails to pull guard.
Three keeps control of Norse as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Three has Norse pressed against the cage.
Three drops down looking for an ankle pick but Norse pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Experiment Three. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Norse shoots and misses

so Three counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Three looking to pass the guard.
Three forces his way into half guard.
Three is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Three is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Norse tries to kick Three off but Three keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Norse is breathing heavily.

Three is working for a kimura but Norse is defending it quite comfortably.

Three seems to be working for a kimura but Norse defends the submission attempt.

Three is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Norse actively working from the bottom here.
Norse is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Three tries to pass the half guard into mount. Norse knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Three decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Three changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Norse looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Three working away.
Three controlling the position from side mount.
Norse is looking for a sweep.

Three decides to stand back up. Three steps back and let's Norse get back to his feet.

Three forces Norse back against the cage and clinches.
Three jumps guard but Norse stands there with Three around his waist. Three gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Three ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Three no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Three seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Three is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Norse is aware though and is defending well.
Norse postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Three is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Norse has his hands clasped together but Three extends an breaks Norse's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Three.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Experiment Three!
