The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cavalcante drops Nogueira with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Nogueira looks back up at him and smiles so Cavalcante waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

It looks like Antonio Marcos Nogueira has been cut.

Cavalcante throws a looping overhand right but Nogueira ducks down to avoid it.

Nogueira fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cavalcante sprawls well initially but Nogueira persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Cavalcante is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nogueira is looking for a kimura but Cavalcante is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nogueira to get the leverage.

Cavalcante on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cavalcante tries to get out of the position.
