Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ramon De La Vega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Flare (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ramon De La Vega has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Ramon De La Vega!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, John Flare!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, William Gold and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De La Vega looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
De La Vega tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
De La Vega misses with a wild combination.
Flare showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from De La Vega.
De La Vega shoots in looking for a takedown. Flare tries to sprawl out of it but De La Vega keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Flare manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nice sprawl there from Flare as De La Vega shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ramon De La Vega. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
De La Vega shoots in but no luck this time.
Flare shoots in for a takedown but De La Vega shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Flare throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around De La Vega's waist but De La Vega gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Flare off to one side.

and Flare counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Flare wants to stand but De La Vega has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as De La Vega holds on and takes a little breather.
De La Vega is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

De La Vega knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Flare on the ground.

Flare drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Flare jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Flare is stalling here. De La Vega is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Flare seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and De La Vega has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

De La Vega uses his free foot to push down on Flare's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Flare.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
De La Vega thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

De La Vega goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Flare turns into him and now he's in De La Vega's guard.
De La Vega has a closed guard, preventing Flare from standing up.
Flare pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. De La Vega is keeping the position for now.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


De La Vega jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Flare throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

De La Vega wants to control but Flare is keeping busy and won't allow it.
De La Vega is doing well to control the position and prevent Flare from advancing to side control.

De La Vega has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Flare is working away from the top position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Flare is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

De La Vega is squirming around, avoiding Flare's attempts to control the action.
De La Vega is desperately trying to improve his position but Flare has a good base and remains in mount.
Flare avoids the attempt from De La Vega to control.
Flare is trying to control here but De La Vega has managed to regain half guard.
Flare landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Flare should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

De La Vega is controlling Flare's trapped leg to prevent Flare from advancing to side control.
De La Vega is refusing to be controlled, as Flare sits in half guard.
De La Vega is doing well to control the position and prevent Flare from advancing to side control.
Flare wants to free his trapped foot but De La Vega is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Flare wants to work for an arm triangle but De La Vega is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

De La Vega's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
De La Vega wants to sweep here but Flare controlling him for the moment.

Flare postures up in De La Vega's guard and throws a big left but De La Vega blocks it.
Flare is fighting to break De La Vega's control of his arms but De La Vega is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

De La Vega lands with a kick to the temple. Flare shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
De La Vega shoots in for a takedown but Flare shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Ramon De La Vega seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Flare will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

De La Vega is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
De La Vega wants to lay and pray for a moment but Flare keeps working.

Flare has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. De La Vega is working away from the top position though.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

De La Vega tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no De La Vega has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ramon De La Vega has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

De La Vega tries for a kimura but Flare is defending well.
John Flare is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Flare throws a right and a left that both miss.
De La Vega stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and De La Vega wants it to stay on the feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
John Flare comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Flare has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
