PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jasser Tiihonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nalle Puh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Puh has chosen Nalle Puhin uudet seikkailut as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jasser Tiihonen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nalle Puh!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Radbod Blank and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puh scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Tiihonen uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Puh.
Tiihonen throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Puh finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Puh misses with a body kick.
Puh avoids the body shot from Tiihonen.
Puh throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
A head kick from Puh lands but Tiihonen takes it in his stride.
Nalle Puh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Puh cracks the inside of Tiihonen's front leg.
Puh pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Puh fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Tiihonen checks it well.
A shot to the body from Tiihonen misses
and Puh counters with a left to the body.
Puh displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Tiihonen throws out the jab.
A telegraphed right hand from Tiihonen misses the target.
Tiihonen misses the shot to the body.
Tiihonen lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Puh at a distance.
Puh closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Puh avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Tiihonen jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Tiihonen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Puh is not content to let Tiihonen control the position.
Puh is looking to improve his position.

Tiihonen wants to control but Puh is keeping him busy.
Puh tries to get to full guard but Tiihonen has control of the leg.

Tiihonen seems to be working for a kimura but Puh defends the submission attempt.
Puh is refusing to be controlled, as Tiihonen sits in half guard.

Tiihonen is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Puh defends it well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Tiihonen is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Tiihonen is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Puh has managed to free his arm - good work.
Puh wants to get back to full guard.

Tiihonen wants to work for an arm triangle but Puh is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Tiihonen is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Puh doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tiihonen.

Tiihonen thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Puh sneaks back into half guard.
Tiihonen works his way into side control.

Tiihonen wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Puh, who protects the arm well.

Tiihonen looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Tiihonen tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tiihonen has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jasser Tiihonen will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Puh plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
A combination from Tiihonen does no damage.
Tiihonen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Puh sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Tiihonen somewhat.
Tiihonen misses with a series of wild punches.
Tiihonen uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Puh.
Puh lands a head shot.
Puh uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Tiihonen.
Tiihonen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Puh throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Puh looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A looping hook to the body misses from Tiihonen. Puh does a little dance to reset his feet.
Tiihonen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Puh moves away.
Puh pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Nice defenses there by Puh.
Puh avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Nalle Puh is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Tiihonen on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Tiihonen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Tiihonen shoots in for a takedown but Puh shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Tiihonen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Nalle Puh is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Tiihonen staying out of range there.
Puh swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Tiihonen fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Puh looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Puh connects with a solid leg kick.
Tiihonen looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Puh throws a leg kick but Tiihonen sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Tiihonen lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Tiihonen lands with a good body shot.
Tiihonen doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Puh counters with a head kick. That will keep Tiihonen thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Puh misses with a hook. Tiihonen ducked under it nicely.

Tiihonen lands a nice shot that snaps Puh's head back.

A nice inside leg kick there by Puh. That's going to slow Tiihonen down.

Donk. Tiihonen catches Puh right on the button with a cross.
Puh tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Puh misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Tiihonen throws a hook but Puh blocks it.

Puh attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Puh connects with an inside leg kick.
Tiihonen swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Puh connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Puh throws a leg kick but Tiihonen checks it.

and Puh counters with a slapping leg kick.
Puh turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Puh throws a hook but Tiihonen blocks it.
Puh throws a nice outside leg kick.
Tiihonen looks to score with a jab to the body but Puh is just out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Tiihonen. Puh does a little dance to reset his feet.
Puh throws a combination. Tiihonen tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Tiihonen will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Tiihonen moves out of range of the leg kick from Puh.
Puh will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
A slapping leg kick lands for Puh.
Tiihonen misses with a hook. Puh ducked under it nicely.

Nalle Puh seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Nice uppercut lands for Tiihonen. That snapped Puh's head back.

Puh is breathing heavily.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tiihonen misses the shot to the body.
Tiihonen shoots for a double leg takedown but Puh sprawls well. He's pushed Tiihonen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Puh is looking to slow Tiihonen down with leg kicks.
Puh looks to land a left hand but Tiihonen moved out of range nicely.

Puh moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Puh ducks under a wild hook from Tiihonen.

Tiihonen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Puh looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Tiihonen has hold of Puh's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Puh seems comfortable defending it but Tiihonen has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Puh is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Puh is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Tiihonen couldn't care less - he's delighted!
