PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Caleb Hoet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. nas hate me now kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Caleb Hoet!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Roy Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Atkins and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson shoots in for a double leg but Hoet sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hoet looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Hoet keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hoet pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hoet wants to clinch up but Jackson keeps it at a distance.
Jackson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hoet's waist but Hoet gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jackson off to one side.
Caleb Hoet has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roy Jackson.
Jackson doesn't manage to clinch there - Hoet circles away.

Jackson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hoet manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Hoet counters by clinching up.

Jackson tightens his grip and picks Hoet up, before dumping him to the ground. Hoet manages to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson won't allow Hoet to sweep him here.

Hoet controls Jackson momentarily but Jackson frees himself.
Hoet tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hoet wants to improve his position but instead Jackson has moved into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roy Jackson dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Jackson tries to clinch there but Hoet circles away.
Hoet leaves Jackson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jackson is trying to drag Hoet to the mat but Hoet just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Jackson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Hoet pulls his leg out and moves away.
Caleb Hoet has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roy Jackson.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jackson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Hoet moves into full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jackson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hoet has his hands on Jackson's head, controlling the position.
Hoet on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hoet tries to get out of the position.
Hoet manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jackson really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Hoet sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Hoet's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hoet pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Hoet content just to control the position here.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Jackson scores with a takedown into Hoet's guard.
Hoet is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hoet swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Jackson is fighting to break Hoet's control of his arms but Hoet is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
A solid leg kick lands there for Hoet.
Jackson tries to close the distance and clinch but Hoet swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Hoet counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hoet.
Hoet lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hoet pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hoet tries to close the distance and clinch but Jackson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Jackson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hoet as he avoids it easily.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hoet stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Hoet lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
Caleb Hoet showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Hoet has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
