The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
K R fails with a takedown attempt.
K R throws a right and a left that Silva avoids nicely.
Silva throws a push kick but K R slaps the foot to one side.
K R misses with a takedown attempt - Silva sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Silva moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

K R looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
K R thows a huge punch but Silva dodges it nicely.

Silva does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Vinicius K R seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

K R looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Silva with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

K R is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Silva is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

K R throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Silva works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

K R postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Silva is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of K R, into his guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Geraldo Silva will probably get the nod.

K R feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
