Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnny Thunders!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Chad Campbell and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thunders moves out of range of the strikes.
Johnny Thunders seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hodges throws a series of punches but Thunders moves out of range.
Thunders misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hodges fails to land with a series of punches.
Thunders swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Hodges counters with a nice uppercut.
Hodges takes a swing at Thunders's ribcage but misses.
Thunders throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hodges thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Thunders's head.
Hodges is taking a breather. Thunders says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

That's time! Hodges's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Hodges lands a nice hook to Thunders's body. Thunders takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Thunders has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Thunders tries to clinch but Hodges moves out of range.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hodges accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Thunders is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Hodges drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Thunders seems a little lost for a moment, as Hodges dominates the positioning.
Hodges fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Thunders is pushing Hodges's head away, looking to escape. Hodges manages to hold on to the position though.
Hodges tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Hodges misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Hodges throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Hodges is keen to just control but Thunders is a slippery customer.
Hodges has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Hodges shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Thunders sprawls well. Thunders wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hodges gets slowly back to his feet.

Thunders rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hodges moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Hodges avoids the head kick by Thunders.

and Hodges counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Hodges throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Thunders tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hodges is in Thunders's guard.

Hodges stands up and beckons Thunders to join him on the feet.

Thunders closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Thunders can't get the takedown.
Hodges has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Thunders avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Hodges lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
The fight stays on the outside here - Thunders looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Thunders misses with a kick to the body.

Hodges throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Thunders was covering up waiting for the punch and Hodges finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Hodges trying to control the position from guard on top but Thunders is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hodges is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Thunders is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Hodges stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Thunders swivels though and keeps the full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!

I think Hodges has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
