PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Akira Yoshida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carl Sizzou (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yoshida comes to the cage accompanied by Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akira Yoshida!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Carl Sizzou!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yuuki Gou and Sosuke Kotani.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sizzou does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Sizzou avoids the head kick by Yoshida.
Sizzou fails in his attempt to clinch.
Sizzou lands a jab-cross combination.
Sizzou looks for a takedown but Yoshida sprawls well.
Sizzou will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Sizzou fails to land with a series of punches.
Sizzou fails in his attempt to clinch.
Sizzou throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Yoshida's waist but Yoshida gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sizzou off to one side.
Akira Yoshida has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carl Sizzou.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Yoshida checks a leg kick.

Yoshida tries for a takedown but Sizzou circles away easily
and Sizzou counters with a straight right hand.
Sizzou shoots in and drives through. Yoshida sprawls well.
A head kick by Sizzou misses
and Yoshida counters with a head kick. That will keep Sizzou thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
A punch combination from Sizzou misses.
Sizzou shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Yoshida as he avoids it easily.
Yoshida shoots for a double leg takedown but Sizzou sprawls well. He's pushed Yoshida's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sizzou tries to clinch

and Yoshida counters with a takedown into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Sizzou's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sizzou pushes Yoshida away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Yoshida gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Yoshida throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Yoshida landing strikes.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Yoshida stands up and beckons Sizzou to his feet.
Sizzou throws a leg kick

and Yoshida counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Yoshida has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Yoshida working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Sizzou's head.
Sizzou tries to strike from the bottom.

Yoshida works over Sizzou with some ground and pound from guard.
Yoshida won't allow Sizzou to sweep him here.
Yoshida won't allow Sizzou to get back to his feet.

Yoshida gets to his feet. Sizzou looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Sizzou tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Yoshida counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Sizzou shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Yoshida counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Yoshida passes Sizzou's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yoshida lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Yoshida is breathing heavily.

Yoshida is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Sizzou is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
