The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ankka looks to throw the jab but Haapasalo is out of range.
Ankka tries to clinch but Haapasalo is having none of it.

Haapasalo keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Haapasalo throws a shot from downtown. Ankka moves away and avoids it.
Ankka misses with a straight left.
Ankka takes a swing at Haapasalo's ribcage but misses.
Ankka goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Haapasalo takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

It looks like Veli Haapasalo has been cut.
Ankka feints and then cracks Haapasalo's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Haapasalo down.
Ankka throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ankka tries to clinch up.
Haapasalo checks a leg kick.
Ankka tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
No joy there for Haapasalo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ankka tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Haapasalo misses with a few strikes there.

A head kick misses from Ankka.
Ankka connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Ankka lands with an uppercut that bounces Haapasalo off the cage and back into rage.
Some wild striking there from Ankka.
Ankka throws a head kick but Haapasalo moves out of range.
Nice jab there from Haapasalo.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ankka is looking to clinch.
Rankka Ankka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ankka tests Haapasalo's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Ankka displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Haapasalo throws out the jab.
Ankka walks straight into a right hand from Haapasalo - that's dropped him! Haapasalo jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Ankka from any more punishment! Ankka complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
