The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Routalempi throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

It looks like Marc Montes has been cut.

Montes is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Routalempi's half guard.

Routalempi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Montes circles away quickly and effectively.

Montes throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Routalempi blocks it with crossed arms.
Montes tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Montes turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Montes manages to end up in side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Montes wants to stand but Routalempi has his arm trapped.

Routalempi is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Montes is controlling him well.

Montes looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Montes is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Routalempi has escaped the position, nice work there.
Routalempi wants to control but Montes postures up.

Montes working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Montes tries for a kimura but Routalempi is defending well.

Routalempi is trying to control Montes's posture but Montes avoids it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Routalempi lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Montes shoots for a double leg takedown but Routalempi sprawls well. He's pushed Montes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Montes fails in his attempt to clinch.
Routalempi throws a right and a left that both miss.
Routalempi scores with the left hand. Montes knows he should have avoided that one.

That has opened up Marc Montes's cut even more.
Routalempi circles away from the clinch attempt.

Montes tries to clinch but Routalempi moves out of range.
Pekka Routalempi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Montes shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Routalempi but Routalempi pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Routalempi lands a big uppercut and Montes crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Montes looks OK. Routalempi waves Montes back to his feet!

Routalempi lands with a big right hook that stumbles Montes - he's out on his feet here! Routalempi follows up with another monster hook that separates Montes from consciousness! Montes falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Routalempi stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
