Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Krom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akira Kanehara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for James Krom has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, James Krom!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akira Kanehara!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Hirohito Nitta and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Krom throws a sloppy head kick and Kanehara moves out of range easily.
Kanehara swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Krom looks to land a left hand but Kanehara moved out of range nicely.
Krom misses with a head kick.
Kanehara throws a leg kick but Krom sees it coming and moves out of range.
Krom fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kanehara misses with a few strikes there.
Krom cracks Kanehara with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Kanehara shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Krom as he jumps to the side.
Krom throws a head kick but Kanehara moves out of range.
Krom cracks Kanehara with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Kanehara avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Krom throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kanehara.
Kanehara should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Krom throws a nice head kick!
Krom tries to clinch up.
James Krom seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
An inside leg kick from Kanehara misses.
Krom lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Kanehara backs up against the ropes.


It looks like Akira Kanehara has been cut.
Krom throws a head kick that misses.
Kanehara swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Krom is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Krom tries to clinch but Kanehara is having none of it.
Kanehara will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kanehara throws a right and a left that both miss.
Krom with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Krom tries to clinch up but Kanehara circles away and keeps his distance.
Krom tries a head kick but it misses.
Krom is breathing heavily.
Krom throws a quick inside leg kick.

Kanehara shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Kanehara looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Kanehara is keen to just control but Krom is a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kanehara wants to free his trapped foot but Krom is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kanehara in particular looking to stall.
Krom is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Krom has hold of Kanehara's hands but Kanehara slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
It looks like Kanehara is going to stand back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Kanehara avoids the head kick by Krom.
Kanehara swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A nice combination there by Krom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Krom scores with a head kick.
Kanehara misses with a few strikes there.

Krom gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kanehara trying to control but Krom is working from the bottom.
Krom avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Krom keeping full guard, as Kanehara tries to pass.
Kanehara is looking to work some ground and pound but Krom has wrist control.

Krom keeping moving, preventing Kanehara from controlling successfully.
Krom bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kanehara's guard.

Kanehara is pulling down on Krom's head. It's preventing any offense from Krom, at least for the moment.
Kanehara tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kanehara has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kanehara is on top in guard.
Krom is trying to control the position but Kanehara postures up.

Krom has his feet on Kanehara's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Krom tries to clinch up.
Nice straight punches there by Kanehara. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Kanehara.
Krom tries to clinch there but Kanehara circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that James Krom will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Akira Kanehara's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Krom has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Kanehara closes the distance and clinches up with Krom, looking for a takedown. Kanehara pushes Krom against the ropes but Krom circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Kanehara just misses with a punch to the body.
Nice body kick there by Krom.
Krom throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Krom tries to clinch there but Kanehara circles away.
Kanehara throws a nice looking combination but Krom bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Krom lands a head kick!
Krom fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
A slapping body kick lands there for Krom.
Some wild striking there from Kanehara.
A punch combination from Kanehara misses.
Kanehara throws an overhand right that has Krom reeling! Kanehara follows up with a more punches and Krom is out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Akira Kanehara!
