PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Areli Durga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Fenton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Durga might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Godsmack - Voodoo. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fenton uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Durga.
Fenton staying out of range there.
Fenton takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Durga throws a series of punches but Fenton moves out of range.
Durga fails in his attempt to clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Durga. No joy for Fenton on that attempt.

and Fenton counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Durga wants to sweep here but Fenton controlling him for the moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Fenton loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Fenton drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Durga manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Fenton has Durga in his guard.
Fenton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

That's time! Durga's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Durga fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Fenton.

With the fighters up against the cage, Durga throws an elbow but misses.

It looks like Jack Fenton has been cut.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
