Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Domingo Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerald Hodges (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gerald Hodges will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Domingo Perez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gerald Hodges!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hodges throws a looping overhand right but Perez ducks down to avoid it.
Hodges tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hodges moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Hodges lands a glancing blow to the side of Perez's head.
Perez misses with a wild body shot.
Perez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hodges.
Perez misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hodges lands with a slapping head kick.
Hodges feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Perez's calf.
Hodges turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Perez is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Hodges misses with a low kick.
Hodges misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hodges tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Perez looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Hodges blocks a leg kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hodges throws a jab but it's blocked by Perez.
Perez throws a jab but it's blocked by Hodges.
Hodges throws out a leg kick but Perez moves out of range and Hodges only half commits.
Hodges tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Perez scores with a takedown into Hodges's guard.
Perez throws a strike but Hodges rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Hodges really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Perez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hodges got a little sloppy there for a moment and Perez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hodges has managed to get both his arms back between Perez's legs - danger averted.
Perez trying to keep a closed guard but Hodges is proving a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hodges trying to control but Perez is working from the bottom.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Perez holds on and takes a little breather.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Perez trying to keep a closed guard but Hodges is proving a slippery customer.
Perez keeping moving, preventing Hodges from controlling successfully.
Perez is trying to keep Hodges in close.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hodges is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Perez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Perez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hodges defends it easily.

Perez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hodges doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hodges manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hodges must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Perez looking to control but Hodges passes into half guard.
Hodges is looking to take a break and control but Perez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Perez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hodges's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hodges's back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Domingo Perez will probably get the nod.
That's time! Perez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Perez keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hodges tries a head kick but it misses.
Hodges tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Perez is able to avoid easily.
A jab from Hodges does it's job there.
Perez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Perez avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Hodges is looking to slow Perez down with leg kicks.
Hodges blocks a jab.
Hodges does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Perez throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hodges looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Perez looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Hodges!
Perez wants to control the pace but Hodges is squirming around nicely.

Perez looking to ground and pound but Hodges is blocking nicely.
A nice elbow there by Perez.
Perez throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Perez working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Hodges looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Perez! Submission of the night perhaps?
