The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matthews tries to close the distance and clinch up but Koscheck swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Koscheck shoots for a double leg takedown but Matthews sprawls well. He's pushed Koscheck's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Matthews darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Matthews tries to close the distance and clinch but Koscheck swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Koscheck is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Matthews can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Koscheck cracks Matthews with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
