PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Igor Iridium (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Crostly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Igor Iridium!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marcus Crostly!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crostly circles away from the clinch attempt.
Iridium throws a nice looking combination but Crostly bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Iridium rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Crostly moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Crostly showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Iridium.

Iridium drives through and clinches with Crostly against the cage.
Iridium tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Iridium pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Crostly wants a takedown but no success here.
Crostly dodges an elbow strike from Iridium.
Iridium misses with a punch on the inside.
Crostly has Iridium pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Iridium manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Iridium throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Igor Iridium has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcus Crostly.
Crostly has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Iridium is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Iridium has his feet on Crostly's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Iridium tries to bum rush Crostly with a series of wild strikes but Crostly uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Iridium stuffs the takedown attempt from Crostly. Crostly gets slowly back to his feet.

Crostly shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Iridium manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Crostly decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Igor Iridium seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Crostly shoots in for a takedown but Iridium shows good takedown defense.
Iridium lands a two punch combo.
Iridium tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Crostly counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Crostly prevents Iridium from getting back to his feet.

Crostly drops back looking for a leg! Iridium is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Iridium manages to kick Crostly off! Crostly jumps back into Iridium's guard.
Iridium is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Crostly is controlling him.
Iridium on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Iridium tries to get out of the position.

Iridium tries to kick Crostly off in order to stand up. Crostly Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Iridium bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Iridium tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Crostly counters with a right hand to the body.

Iridium fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Iridium stuffs the takedown.
Crostly misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Iridium throws a right and a left that both miss.

Crostly scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Crostly thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Iridium is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Crostly asserts his dominance and retains side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Crostly fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Iridium avoids it really well and circles away.
Crostly throws a hook but Iridium avoids it easily.
Crostly throws a sloppy head kick and Iridium moves out of range easily.

and Crostly counters with a single leg into guard. Iridium didn't expect that.
Crostly prevents Iridium from getting back to his feet.
Marcus Crostly has got the better of the ground game so far.
Crostly is working Iridium over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Iridium wants to get back to his feet but Crostly is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Iridium trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Crostly shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Iridium is trying to defend but Crostly finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Crostly is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Iridium is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Iridium pushes Crostly away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Crostly gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Crostly decides to stand back up.

Iridium rushes Crostly and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Crostly avoids the elbow strike from Iridium, against the cage.
Crostly can't get the takedown.

Igor Iridium has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcus Crostly.
Iridium pushes Crostly back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Iridium pushes off an throws an elbow but Crostly leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Iridium just misses with a elbow thrown towards Crostly's brow.

Crostly is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Iridium can't fight it off and eventually Crostly manages to take the fight to the floor. Iridium looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Iridium misses with a double jab

and Crostly counters with a nice double leg into side control. Iridium won't be happy with that.

Crostly is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Crostly gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Crostly gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Crostly apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Iridium throws a series of punches but Crostly avoids them all with ease.

Crostly closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Iridium has momentary wrist control but Crostly slips an elbow through the middle.
Iridium wants to stand up but Crostly is controlling him.

and Crostly counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Crostly.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Crostly lands a big shot there that rocks Iridium but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Crostly scoring with strikes but Iridium is staying in there.
Marcus Crostly is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
