PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Caleb Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson has chosen Rampage Song as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson rushes Perez and presses him up against the cage.
Perez has had enough of the clinch but Jackson keeps him there for the moment.
Perez prevents Jackson from breaking the clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Perez wants to get back to striking at distance but Jackson won't allow it.
Jackson goes for a takedown attempt but Perez pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Perez shoots in for a takedown but Jackson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Perez shoots for a double leg takedown but Jackson sprawls well. He's pushed Perez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Perez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jackson is fending him off so far but Perez persists. Nope, Jackson circles away and we're back to standing.

Jackson looks to land a combination but Perez avoids it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jackson is pushing down on Perez's leg trying to pass to half guard. Perez is fighting to maintain full guard but Jackson has managed to sneak the leg through.

I looks like Jackson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Jackson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jackson connects with a nice short shot to Perez's temple.
Jackson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Jackson is taking a breather. Perez says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Perez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Perez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jackson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Phil Jackson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Well Jackson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
