Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Noriaki Ueyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Makoto Nagano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nagano has chosen Ashes to ashes - Saxon as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Noriaki Ueyama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Makoto Nagano!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yukihiro Shimada and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ueyama throws out a powerful jab.
Nagano misses with an uppercut. Ueyama saw that one coming.
Ueyama looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Nagano pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Ueyama fails to land the takedown.
Ueyama tries a head kick but it misses.
Ueyama shoots in for a double leg but Nagano sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

and Ueyama counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

The fighters circling - Nagano throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Nagano pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nagano takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Nagano throws a jab but it's blocked by Ueyama.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Ueyama.

Ueyama closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Nagano is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Ueyama changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Nagano fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Horrible takedown by Ueyama or perhaps it was just good defense by Nagano which made him look bad.

Ueyama throws a shot from downtown. Nagano moves away and avoids it.
Nagano fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ueyama manages to avoid it.
An inside leg kick lands from Nagano.

Ueyama feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ueyama passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Nagano is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Ueyama seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Ueyama wants to take a breather but Nagano is having none of it.

Ueyama slips a nice elbow through Nagano's hands, connecting with Nagano's forehead.
Ueyama thows a huge punch but Nagano dodges it nicely.
Ueyama thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nagano's head.
Ueyama works his way into side control.

Ueyama is looking to take a break and control but Nagano is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Nagano tries to strike from the bottom but misses.

Ueyama thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Nagano throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nagano misses with a series of wild punches.

and Ueyama counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Ueyama wants to control from the top but Nagano keeps moving.
Ueyama thows a big elbow that misses.
Nagano has momentary wrist control but Ueyama slips an elbow through the middle.
Ueyama is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Ueyama content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Ueyama is working Nagano over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Ueyama wants to control from the top but Nagano keeps moving.

Ueyama has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Nagano working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ueyama doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ueyama manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Ueyama is nestled in close to Nagano, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Ueyama tries to pass to full mount but Nagano defends it.
Nagano is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Nagano is refusing to be controlled, as Ueyama sits in half guard.
Nagano is in trouble now - Ueyama has advanced to mount!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Ueyama cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The referee warns Nagano that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Ueyama has hold of Nagano's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Nagano manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Noriaki Ueyama.

Ueyama shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Nagano napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Nagano is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Ueyama is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ueyama is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Ueyama is trying to control. Nagano wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Nagano looks to land a right hand but Ueyama moved out of range.
Nagano tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ueyama sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nagano somewhat.

Ueyama takes the fight into the clinch.

Ueyama manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Ueyama has control of Nagano's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Nagano regains control of the situation pretty easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ueyama throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Nagano because Ueyama loaded up on that one.
Nagano really wants to buck Ueyama off and get back to his feet.
Ueyama tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Ueyama is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nagano can do to turn this around?
Ueyama lands with some strikes.

Ueyama swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Nagano is now in Ueyama's guard. A big mistake from Ueyama there, giving up the dominant position!
Nagano wants to get up but he can't break Ueyama's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Ueyama is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Nagano to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Nagano shrugs it off.

Noriaki Ueyama overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ueyama is in the full mount, landing strikes.
You get the feeling that Nagano really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Nagano tries to control Ueyama's head but Ueyama pushes him back down and moves quickly to lock up an arm here - he's swung around for an armbar! Will he get it??? Yes! Nagano is tapping out! Lovely Jiu Jitsu there!
